Hardbanding is the process for the application of heavy metal bands on drill pipe, collars, tool joints and other down hole components. Hardbanding is used as a type of wear protection on drilling components, to increase the life of the tool and help reduce overall costs on replacements.

Currently, Premium Inspection Company, LLC. hardbands  are applied using a GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding) welding process, using a mobile hardbanding unit. The hardbands primarily consist of nickel and tungsten and are applied using the operator recommendations or customer defined standards.
